In state championship game, BC football can erase 75 years of Savannah prep sports history

Benedictine's football team is going to play in the Georgia High School Association State Championship game on Friday, Dec. 9 at 3:30 p.m. at Center Parc Stadium in Atlanta. The team won the state championship last season. They are aiming to win back-to-back state championships for the first time since Savannah High's basketball team did so in 1946 and 1947. Savannah's high school baseball, basketball (boys) and football teams haven't won back to back championships since the Bluejackets did it a year after World War II.

Georgia Bulldogs will play Ohio State in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 31 at 8 p.m. Georgia Southern accepted an invitation to play in Camellia Bowl against the Buffalo Bulls on Tuesday, December 27 at noon. It will be the fifth bowl game for Southern since moving to the FBS in 2014.
