Ireland vs England Predictions

Ireland head into this clash off the back of St Patrick’s Day with a possible Six Nations title in the bag. A win is enough for Ireland and given how England were obliterated last weekend by France, an Ireland win should be forthcoming.

I am backing Ireland to cover the -15 handicap.

  • Ireland have won their last 2 matches against England.
  • Ireland have won their last 12 of their last 13 matches.
  • England lost their last match by 43 points at home.

Head to Head

England have won four of their last six games against Ireland but the last two have both gone in Ireland’s favour. Last season the Irish won at Twickenham 32-15.

Ireland Form

Ireland are on the verge of another Six Nations title but they have to get over the final hurdle. A win will be enough for them to secure the title and the Grand Slam.

Ireland have dominated the Six Nations, winning all four games to date. They opened up with a big win over Wales away before seeing France 32-19 at home. That was followed by a scrappy 34-20 victory over Italy in Rome.

Last week Ireland were in a huge contest in Scotland but a superb second half display saw them win 22-7. Losing the Six Nations from here will be nothing short of a catastrophe for the Irish.

Ireland Injuries & Team News

Jamison Gibson-Park will partner Jonny Sexton at scrumhalf with Conor Murray shifting to bench.

England Form

England have endured another poor Six Nations campaign with many already questioning the sacking of Eddie Jones. After losing to Scotland in the opening round, England struggled to a 31-14 home success against Italy.

England won in round three again, beating a under fire Welsh side 20-10 in Cardiff. It was clear both sides were struggling for form in a really poor fixture.

Last week the English suffered a humiliation 53-10 home loss to France. It was a record defeat for England on home soil as the French made them look rather mediocre.

England Injuries & Team News

Owen Farrell returns to the England starting lineup this weekend with Marcus Smith shifting to the bench.
