Is Kent Johnson the Answer at Center?

Kent Johnson is one of the top forward prospects in hockey. He has played at the NCAA level, World Juniors, and even the NHL. Johnson has been playing from the left wing slot.

Kent Johnson is a 19-year-old rookie. He is good, but not a generational talent. He's not the type of player that teams tank for.

At 6-1 and under 170 pounds, he's not quite ready to play in the top-line center position. He hasn't played center in years. The position is the toughest on the ice, especially for a young player coming out of college.

Kent Johnson has played well with Patrik Laine and Johnny Gaudreau in the preseason. They were very effective in their first game together.

Kent Johnson is a good player who is good at both ends of the ice. He is expected to play on the line with Laine and Gaudreau this season. Johnson has only 9 NHL games under his belt. The Blue Jackets are thin down the middle and with some key injuries, it's possible that Johnson plays both center and wing. He will probably start the season as a wing and fill in down in the center. It's unfair to throw him into the fire right away.
