The Bengals probably should have cratered after losing Joe Burrow for the season. Yet here they are with three games remaining, holding one of the AFC's wild-card spots after winning three straight matchups which includes two overtime thrillers.

That surge has largely been the result of backup quarterback Jake Browning being more than just competent or serviceable. He's been impressive while posting a QBR of 107.1 in 2023, and completing 74.1% of his pass attempts since taking over for Burrow in Week 11.

But will the good vibes keep going during a critical rematch against the division rival Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday?

Jake Browning Over 232.5 passing yards (-114 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Halt all your last-minute holiday shopping and find a corner of the toy store between the Lego and Hot Wheels to pounce on this number from FanDuel.

All of our other best sports betting sites have set Browning's passing yards total at 240.5. But FanDuel is on an island with its 232.5.

Either number would be enticing given Browning's effectiveness, but FanDuel's rogue offering is clearly more appealing. Enough so that any deep concerns about the absence of Ja'Marr Chase should melt away.

Chase will be sidelined for at least Week 16 with an AC joint sprain, and losing him is certainly a gut shot. Browning wasn't overly leaning on him, with Chase only getting a combined eight targets over his past two games.

He spiked to 12 in Week 13 with Browning under center, but sat at a modest six the previous week against the Steelers.

Browning has averaged 317.7 passing yards over his last three starts. His only wobble yardage wise came during his previous meeting with the Steelers. Even then, he fell only just short of this total while finishing with 227 yards.

Projection models widely favor the Over on FanDuel's number, with NumberFire forecasting 245.7 yards, and ESPN at 243.

This is another total showing some eye-catching value.

Browning will never be mistaken for a running quarterback who dazzles with athleticism and brute force like Jalen Hurts. But he possesses enough pocket sense, scrambling prowess and overall mobility to squirt away from pressure and rack up rushing yards when needed.

The signal-caller has produced two games with 20-plus rushing yards over his four starts in 2023, topping out at 40 against the Baltimore Ravens' stout defense. The Steelers limited him to nine yards in Week 12, but that would still clear the ground-scraping bar this total is setting.

Browning has failed to cash the Over here twice over his five appearances since Burrow's injury, including one seven-yard effort that would have lost by just the hook. The Steelers boast a quality pass rush that could force him out of the pocket often.

All those factors are surely being put into projections heavily leaning toward the Over, including NumberFire and its 15.68-yard forecast.

Sprint to bet365 with that number in mind, as some of our other best sportsbooks offering this prop sit at 8.5 or 9.5 yards. Caesars and BetMGM are also featuring 7.5, but at a much more heavily juiced -123 and -120, respectively.

Browning isn't struggling to accumulate yards, and he hasn't always been doing the dink and dunk routine either while averaging 8.7 yards per attempt.

A significant chunk gain needed to cash the Over here could elude him without Chase, who ranks third in the league after piling up 521 yards after the catch.

There are still field-stretching options available for Browning in Tyler Boyd and Tee Higgins, but a passer who's recorded only seven 30-plus-yard connections could feel the effect of Chase's absence when it comes to the true home run swings.

That will especially be the case against the Steelers' threatening pass rush.
