Paul’s power could trouble Diaz

Diaz is a former UFC champion and there is no doubt that the 38-year-old will bring the fight in Dallas. However, this is his debut in the boxing ring and octagon skills have not always transferred well.

Paul has dismissed the MMA challenges posed by Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley and Anderson Silva and it is likely to be more of the same in Texas. Diaz is conceding 12 years to a younger, fresher and, most importantly, considerably bigger fighter.

The majority of the Californian’s career has been spent competing at light and welterweight and a move up to cruiserweight appears a huge task.

Paul put 200lb of Tommy Fury on the canvas last time out, the Problem Child has stopped Askren and Woodley, and another knockout victory looks a bet at 8/11.

Problem Child could school inexperienced rival

It is also worth considering that this fight could be a complete mismatch in terms of size and backing the contest to end before eight rounds are completed looks a bet at 4/5.

Paul’s form in the boxing ring is limited, but the 26-year-old’s defeat to Fury last time out came in a competitive contest and that reads pretty well in the context of this bout.

The Ohio man has shown enough power to put a legitimate cruiserweight on the canvas and dispatch Askren and Woodley. Diaz may not hang around as long as the prices suggest.

The 38-year-old is a fiery character, but that aggression may prove to be the UFC star’s downfall and it could be an early defeat for Diaz.

Tip: Less than eight rounds completed @ 4/5 with Parimatch

Diaz’s fight could lead to many knockdowns

Diaz is a tough customer, as the Californian showed in the octagon, and there is unlikely to be any quitting in the 38-year-old. That makes Betfred’s offer of 9/4 for the UFC fighter to hit the canvas on at least two occasions worth a play.

Paul is likely to dominate this clash and his size and power will cause Diaz problems. However, the 38-year-old has the heart to continue after hitting the floor and he may be knocked down on numerous occasions by the powerful Problem Child.

Tip: Diaz to be knocked down two or more times @ 9/4 with Parimatch
