Jake Spavital Hired As Offensive Coordinator At Cal

Jake Spavital will be the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at California. He was the quarterbacks coach in Berkeley for one season in 2016. Spivital has been the head coach of Texas State for the last four seasons. His previous coaching experience includes being the Offensive Coordinator at West Virginia and the Quarterback Coach at Texas A&M. He has worked with several future NFL quarterbacks. They include Will Grier, Case Keenum, Johnny Manziel, Kyler Murray, Geno Smith and Brandon Weeden. Murray was drafted by Arizona in 2019. Weedens and Manziel were drafted in 2012 and 2014.

Jake Spavital has been hired as Offensive Coordinator at Cal. Helped lead West Virginia to a 10-3 overall record and a win over Clemson in the Orange Bowl in his first season with the team in 2011.

Two-year letterwinner as a quarterback and punter for Missouri State. Consensus first-team all-state quarterback for a program that won the Class 6A state title game in 2002.

Jake Morris' wife is a former college gymnast. Zac Morris was the defensive coordinator at Texas State during Jake's tenure as head coach. Jake played football at Murray State and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. Steve Morris is Jake and Zac's father.
