James Maddison Next Club Odds: Man Utd Keen On Leicester Ace

Manchester United are set to rival Newcastle for the signature of James Maddison, with UK betting sites pricing them at 16/1 to land the Leicester City player.

The England international has been superb for the Foxes this season, contributing to 15 goals in 20 Premier League matches. Making him the second highest goal contributor from a team outside the ‘big six’, only Brentford’s Ivan Toney has bettered the Leicester man.

Injuries have impacted the midfielder’s season tremendously, as he has missed six games due to a repeated issue with his knee. Being absent from this many matches has also damaged Leicester’s campaign, with Brendan Rodger’s side now sitting 17th – only a point above the relegation zone.

Despite his side’s poor performances this season, the 26-year-old was selected by Gareth Southgate for England’s upcoming fixtures. Highlighting his quality amongst some of the best players in the league and reports suggest that his future at Leicester is uncertain.

Most goal involvements by central-midfielders in the Premier League this season:

◎ Kevin De Bruyne: 16
◎ Martin Ødegaard: 16
◉ James Maddison: 15

A variety of clubs have shown interest in Maddison, with Eddie Howe’s Newcastle reportedly making countless approaches over the last few windows. However according to reports, Manchester United are keen on bringing the England international to Old Trafford next season.

Erik ten Hag has revolutionised the red side of Manchester, winning the Carabao Cup in his first season and putting the Red Devils in Champions League contention. His signings have helped turn things around, with Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez being star performers since signing in the summer.

The Leicester City star could be another key signing for United with a midfield addition being their primary target, alongside a new striker. Frenkie de Jong has been linked with a move to Manchester for months now, but if that move fails to materialise then Maddison may be a superb alternative.
