John Terry announces shock return to Chelsea after suffering Premier League relegation sending fans into meltdown

JOHN TERRY has announced he is returning to Chelsea - sending fans into meltdown.

The club legend left the club in 2017 after playing his final game in a Blues shirt.

And the wait for his return is finally over with Terry set to team up with the academy this summer.

The former captain announced his return on social media, writing: "I’m delighted to be back Home working in the Academy."

Fans are overjoyed with the news and welcomed back the former defender with open arms.

One wrote: "Yesss! Welcome back home king this is your home ����"

Another added: "Back where you belong ��"

A third said: "Fantastic news, back where you belong John. You'll once again be a great asset for our Academy and a true inspiration for our young players in it. ��

"Captain, Leader, Legend! ��"

And another commented: "Trusting the process. He will be the greatest English manager ever."

Terry, 42, is Chelsea's most successful player, having captained the club to five Premier League titles.

He also lifted the Champions League and won the FA Cup five times.

The former England international made 717 appearances for the club and was named the PFA Players' Player of the Year in 2005.

Terry's most recent job was at Leicester where he failed to keep the Foxes in the Prem working under Dean Smith.

The pair also worked together at Aston Villa where they helped the Villans to promotion from the Championship.

Terry helped to consolidate Villa back in the top flight before leaving the club in the summer of 2021.
