The Fourth of July is always a signature day on the baseball calendar with every team in action, and we've selected our favorite bets from this 15-game slate including an MLB same-game parlay with Shohei Ohtani on the mound.

July 4 MLB best bets: Angels vs. Padres MLB same-game parlay picks for Ohtani vs. Musgrove

There are an endless number of MLB betting markets to choose from with a slate this size, but we've narrowed down our picks to include an elite pitching matchup between Shohei Ohtani and Joe Musgrove, plus a pick for Cubs vs. Brewers.

Cubs vs. Brewers pick: Under 9 runs (-110 or better)

This NL Central battle at American Family Field carries an elevated total considering the pitching matchup.

Kyle Hendricks has hit the ground running after a delayed start to the regular season, posting just a 3-3 record but complementing it with a 2.81 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and minuscule 0.4 HR/9.

He's been at his best on the road, posting a 2-1 mark, 1.77 ERA and 0.59 WHIP across 20.1 innings in that split.

Wade Miley is cruising along in his own right to the tune of a 5-2 record, 3.02 ERA and 1.06 WHIP. Three of his wins and only one of his losses have come at home, and he posted back-to-back shutouts of the Pirates and Guardians two and three starts ago.

He’s also facing a Cubs team that’s posted a 26.2 percent strikeout rate, .219 average and .296 wOBA (weighted on base average) against left-handed pitching in the last month.

For their part, Milwaukee has a 25.4 percent strikeout rate, .223 average and .294 wOBA versus righties in the last month.

July 4 MLB SGP picks: Back Padres and under vs. Angels (-105 or better)

  • San Diego Padres +2.5
  • Under 8.5 total runs

An even more intriguing pitcher’s duel will take place in this evening interleague clash, as Shohei Ohtani and Joe Musgrove will face off at Petco Park.

Ohtani has rightfully garnered major headlines for the blistering June he put together at the plate, but he’s been highly effective as a pitcher with a 7-3 mark, 3.02 ERA and 1.04 WHIP, along with a stellar 33.2 percent strikeout rate.

Musgrove has frequently been excellent in his own right, especially lately. The hard-throwing veteran enters Tuesday’s start with a 5-0 record, 2.13 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and tiny 0.2 HR/9 in the 42.1 innings covering his last seven starts.

That sample includes a 3-0 mark and 2.63 ERA in his last four starts at his pitcher-friendly home park. The Angels do make for a very dangerous foe on paper given their .315 average and .408 wOBA on the road versus righties in the last month.

However, Musgrove has already held dangerous offenses like those of the Diamondbacks, Dodgers, pre-Aaron-Judge-injury Yankees, and Rays to three runs or fewer this season.

Ohtani has also been a bit more hittable on the road (4.03 ERA, 1.7 HR/9), so San Diego should have a chance of keeping any loss to two runs or less and is actually a slight favorite to win the game outright at some sportsbooks as of Monday night.
