Juvenile gems: here are this week's races which could provide the next superstar

This week's top two-year-old races kick off on Thursday at Newmarket. Last season the likes of Coroebus and Modern Games appeared at the meeting. This year's fields are likely to offer clues for next season's Classics and beyond.

There is a Group race on Thursday. Telescope, Eminent and Ghaiyyath have won it recently. King Me is the standout. Garden Route, Rajasthan and Regal Honour also boast exceptional pedigrees. Military Order will make his debut.

Modern Games won the Group 3 race in Canada on Saturday night. Godolphin trainer Charlie Appleby has won this race for the last two seasons. Victory Dance is his main hope this time. Holloway Boy, who caused an upset on his debut in the Chesham Stakes, is entered along with the once-raced and impressive Nostrum.

The Rockfel is a Group 2 race for 7f fillies, held on Friday. Just The Judge won the race in 2012 and went on to win the Classic. Commissioning won on her debut in July and is short as 16-1 for next year's 1,000 Guineas.

The Royal Lodge is a Group 2 race with past winners Frankel and Roaring Lion. Godolphin's Sandown and Salisbury winner Flying Honours and unbeaten Superlative Stakes winner Isaac Shelby are among the entries.

Some of the best fillies around are descending on Newmarket for the Cheveley Park Stakes on Saturday. 2020 winner Alcohol Free is the most recent example of a filly who went on to develop into an outstanding three-year-old.

Sakheer, Persian Force, Blackbeard and Marshman are in the running for the Prix Morny. The Karl Burke-trained Marshmann is also right in their mix.
