Kansas Lottery 200 Predictions, Picks & Odds

A frantic Friday night is ahead in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, as two drivers will see their championship hopes end in the Kansas Lottery 200 at Kansas Speedway (9:00 pm ET, FS1).

Entering the race, Ty Majeski sits at the bottom of the points standings thanks to a hefty penalty for an infraction at the most recent race at the Milwaukee Mile. But the #98 is already set for the Round of 8 with a win in the playoff opener.

With Majeski safe, Ben Rhodes and Matt DiBenedetto are facing elimination. Matt Crafton and Nick Sanchez are the two drivers most under threat if Rhodes or DiBenedetto do what is required to avoid elimination.

Kansas Lottery 200 Predictions and Picks

This is the second Truck Series race of the season at Kansas Speedway, following the Heart of America 200, which took place in May.

As with that race, the Kansas Lottery 200 is the opener of a multi-race NASCAR weekend at the track. The Kansas Lottery 300, the finale of the Xfinity Series regular season, will take place Saturday, while the Cup Series Hollywood Casino 400, the second race of the Cup Series playoffs, will take place Sunday.

In the May race, Christian Eckes won the pole, but Grant Enfinger led the most laps (65) and most importantly led when it mattered, picking up the first of his three wins this season.

While the likes of Enfinger, Majeski, Eckes, Corey Heim, and Carson Hocevar are all safe, the same can’t be said for Sanchez, who finished sixth in the May race.

Even Zane Smith, who finished third in the Heart of America 200, could mathematically fall below the cut line if things get wild and wacky enough.

In the May race, Eckes’ night was ended early by an accident, but he is the first finishing position pick on my board for the Kansas Lottery 200.

Eckes has opened the Truck Series playoffs by finishing second and third in the first two races, and he is +120 for yet another top-five finish.

Next up is Hocevar, who has finished fourth and second in the first two playoff races. Hocevar now has eight top-five finishes in his last ten races, and he is -130 to add to that run.

2023 Heart of America 200 Results

  • 1. Grant Enfinger
  • 2. Corey Heim
  • 3. Zane Smith
  • 4. Stewart Friesen
  • 5. Ross Chastain
  • 6. Nick Sanchez
  • 7. Kyle Busch
  • 8. Jake Garcia
  • 9. Taylor Gray
  • 10. Tyler Ankrum

Heim has been Mr. Consistency throughout the season, finishing outside of the top ten just twice in his 17 races. At the Milwaukee Mile last time out, he finished fourth, his eighth top five this year. Like Hocevar, he is -130 for a top-five finish in the Kansas Lottery 200.

Lastly, we have the Kansas Lottery 200 race winner pick. There are several good options to choose from, but I’m rolling with Majeski.

After being penalized and forced to start the Clean Harbors 175 at the back of the field, Majeski made his way through the field and finished a very respectable seventh.

Being stripped of 75 points and five playoff points means that Majeski needs to run very well in the coming weeks to keep his championship hopes going.

Majeski dominated the previous two races prior to the Clean Harbors 250 and has finished seventh, sixth, second, first, and seventh in his last five races.

He led 168 of 250 laps of the Worldwide Express 250 at Richmond but finished second after a late pass by Hocevar. And in the TSport 200 at Lucas Oil Raceway Park, Majeski led 179 of 200 laps on the way to winning the race.

Both Hocevar and Enfinger, the two drivers who have won a series-leading three races this season, are hard to pass on, but I’m very confident in backing Majeski to take the checkered flag.

Eckes has opened the Truck Series playoffs by finishing second and third in the first two races, and he is +120 for yet another top-five finish.
