Kentucky vs Georgia prediction, picks: Odds for SEC matchup

The No. 1 ranked Georgia Bulldogs host unbeaten Kentucky on Saturday in a key SEC matchup.

Georgia has won all five of its games this season but backing the Bulldogs hasn't been profitable for bettors. The No. 1 team in the country is a dismal 1-4 against the spread. Meanwhile, Kentucky has covered all five of its games this season.

Despite being 5-0, the Wildcats are big underdogs to the defending National Champions. The Betting odds at Caesars Sportsbook have Georgia 14.5-point favorites at home with the total set at 47.5.

Kentucky vs. Georgia Prediction

The Bulldogs have owned this series winning 13 straight games and posting a 62-12 all-time record versus the Cats. However, when it comes to the spread in recent years, that's a different story. Kentucky has covered four straight games.

The Wildcats will want to run the ball and control clock on Saturday and they have the guy to do it in running back Ray Davis. Davis is coming off a 280-yard rushing performance against Florida last week.

Georgia's defense isn't as dominant as it has been the last two seasons, allowing opponents to rush for 113 yards a game and an average of 4.0 yards per carry. Look for Kentucky to try to exploit the suspect Georgia rush defense and get this game into the fourth quarter.

On the other side of the ball, Kentucky sports one of the best defenses in college football. The Wildcats rank fifth in rush defense, 11th in total defense and 16th in scoring defense where Kentucky allows just 16.8 points per game.

Georgia quarterback Carson Beck has been solid but unspectacular through five games, throwing for 1,497 yards with seven touchdowns and two interceptions. This will be by far the best defense Beck has faced as a starter.

The last four meetings between these two teams have gone under the total and I think we see another low-scoring affair with two strong defenses controlling the game. In a matchup like that, I'll take the points.
