Keystone Field seizes Claiming Crown Jewel in the slop
Keystone Field won the Claiming Crown Jewel at Churchill Downs by a half-length. Gerardo Corrales rode the winner for trainer Mike Maker. Maker won earlier the $109,850 Glass Slipper with Paradise Farms Corp’s Invaluable. Tom Van Berg and Florent Geroux teamed to win the second Claimed Crown race of the day. The Queens Jules came from behind to beat Divine Leader in the Rapid Transit. Petit Verdot won $160,600 Tom Metzen Memorial. The Claimings Crown Championship Series is a series of eight starter allowance races for the nation's top claiming-level horses.
