Claiming Crown Jewel 2022: Odds, stakes schedule, more

Intrepid Heart is the morning-line favorite for the 2022 Claiming Crown Jewel at Churchill Downs. The race starts at 5:35 p.m. EST. There are eight races with starter allowance conditions totaling more than $1 million in purse money. Intrepirid heart has eight career wins and entered off a runner-up effort Sept. 28 at the Churchill. Benevengo has a Grade 1 race under his belt, his being a fifth-place effort in July at Monmouth Park. Ournationonparade won the Maryland Million Classic Stakes on Oct. 22 at Laurel Park for trainer Jamie Ness.

7. Tiz Rye Time (Thomas Van Berg and Rafael Bejarano), 10-1.

12 Volt Man (Saffie Joseph Jr., Edwin Gonzalez) is 8-1 to win Crown Jewel 2022.

Calibrator is expected to go to the lead under jockey Edgard Zayas. Ournationonparade (Jamie Ness, Paco Lopez) is 9-2 favorite. Intrepid Heart is the favorite to mount a rally from near the back.
