KY Derby Winner Rich Strike May Find Riches Again in Saturday's G2 Lukas Classic

Rich Strike is the Kentucky Derby winner. He will be back at Churchill Downs in Saturday's $500,000 Lukas Classic (G2). He is expected to be ridden by his regular rider Sonny Leon. The winner will face older horses. The 1997 Derby winning horse Silver Charm won the 1998 Clark Handicap beneath the Twin Spires. Happy Jack finished 14th in the Derby. Silver Charm won an allowance event in late July at Ellis Park. Rich Strike will become the second horse in this year’s Derby field to face an older horse. It will also be the first to do so in a stakes event. Richard Dawson is a big part of why Rich strike is where he is.
