La Liga president talks up Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid move

La Liga president Javier Tebas suggests that it is more likely than not that Kylian Mbappe leaves Paris Saint-Germain for Real Madrid in the summer.

La Liga president Javier Tebas believes that Kylian Mbappe is likely to leave Paris Saint-Germain for Real Madrid this summer.

For the second time in his career, there is frequent speculation regarding the next phase of the France international's career.

In 2022, the versatile attacker appeared to be on the brink of signing for Real Madrid on a free transfer, only to make a late U-turn and commit his immediate future to PSG.

Since then, the 25-year-old has continued to star for the French giants, yet his contract has now reached a point where he has six months remaining on his existing terms.

President Nasser Al-Khelaifi has acknowledged that he will do everything possible to convince Mbappe that he should spent at least an eighth season in the capital.

Mbappe has insisted that he remains fully focused on trying to deliver a Champions League trophy for PSG, as well as win yet another Ligue 1 title, but has admitted that he has a desire to take on a new challenge at some point in the future.

Being free to hold formal negotiations with foreign clubs regarding a transfer will ensure that talk persists over a potential move to the Bernabeu.

Tebas has commented on the situation, indicating that he feels that it is more likely than not that Los Blancos will strengthen their attacking ranks with the acquisition of the 2018 World Cup winner.

In an interview with Marca, Tebas said: "I think high (chance). It's a personal opinion. 26-year-old player. It will depend on Real Madrid, the president and what he is willing to bet on.

"Real Madrid must think that the arrival of [Jude] Bellingham has made them already have a star, Vinicius {Junior} is another. If the player wants to go to Madrid...more than 50%."

Earlier in the campaign, Tebas revealed that Real have an increased wage cap to work with ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, a development that will only increase their chances of getting a deal over the line.

Real are in the market for a new centre-forward, a consequence of failing to sufficiently replace Karim Benzema when he signed for Al-Ittihad last summer.

While Liverpool have been credited with an interest in Mbappe in recent months, any move is now in doubt with manager Jurgen Klopp leaving Anfield at the end of the season.
