Leeds United backed to 'put some pressure' on Leicester and Ipswich with early Championship win

Leeds United can ramp up the pressure of league leaders Leicester City and Ipswich Town tonight by striking early as the Championship returns to action.

Daniel Farke's side take on managerless Rotherham United this evening in the weekend's first game, and can close the gap on the top two with an important win. Early pacesetters Leicester and Ipswich are currently joint top of the table, but third-placed Leeds will reduce the gap to just five points if they beat Yorkshire rivals Rotherham.

And Sky Sports pundit has backed the Whites to do exactly that and send a message to the top two ahead of their games. Leicester host Watford on Saturday afternoon while Ipswich travel to West Brom in the 5.30pm game tomorrow.

"Rotherham still don’t have a new manager heading into this one, which suggests that parting company with Matt Taylor was more out of reluctance than anything," Prutton said in his Sky Sports predictions. They had a decent home record under him, it was just on the road where it all fell apart.

"This is a great opportunity for Leeds to put some pressure on Leicester and Ipswich before those two play on Saturday. Five points would be a small gap, and I think that will be the damage. Prediction: Rotherham United 1-3 Leeds United."
