Liverpool v Tottenham: Best bets for Sunday’s Premier League games

Our betting expert with tips for Anfield showdown, Manchester United v Aston Villa, Newcastle against Southampton and Leeds at Bournemouth, Manchester City and a 7/1 Erling Haaland poke PLUS Serie A angle

Tottenham and England star Harry Kane keeps his eyes on the prize

Trust Harry Kane’s head over Tottenham’s fickle heart at Anfield.

It’s a measure of how grim things have got at Spurs when a 2-2 home draw is hailed as some sort of triumph of the human spirit.

Coming back from 2-0 down to Manchester United is obviously tougher than, say, coming back from 1-0 down – but you’re pretty much obliged to have a go in either case. Neither rates a Victoria Cross.

There are no medals for spotting that Spurs have leaked more Prem goals than any other side in the top-half, but there is a fair bet or two at Liverpool (4.30pm).

Whatever Spurs think Kane ‘owes them’ – £88million was the last guess – he’s been paying ‘anytime scorer’ backers as often as not. His air power gives him an extra lift against the Reds. Be on at 17/10 (Hills) ‘anytime’.

Mo Salah can match Kane’s ‘anytime’ rate – and shows a hefty Anfield uptick. Bet Salah scores at 21/20 (Fred, Hills).

Worldie fans want 35/1 (Paddy) that Diogo Jota ‘scores from outside box’ – he’s on the up again, and bagged a couple of long-rangers at Leeds.

Erik ten Hag has the hump again, but it’ll be down to him if his Manchester United players can’t give Aston Villa’s set-piece frailty (2pm) a prod. Cue Bruno Fernandes ‘anytime assist’ at 3/1 (Hills).

Toon’s Bruno Guimaraes rates an ‘assist’ at 11/4 (Paddy) against Southampton. Leeds must gamble at Bournemouth – bet Luke Ayling scores at 16/1 (SkyBet) and ‘has two or more shots’ at 13/8 (Paddy).

Erling Haaland has scored six hat-tricks for Manchester City – but been subbed on two goals six times.

Haaland is 7/1 to hit three at vulnerable Fulham (2pm). Amazingly, even despite Pep Guardiola’s incessant meddling, that’s still a fair reflection on his data – but ‘Haaland scores a header’ at 7/1 (Paddy) and Kevin De Bruyne ‘anytime assist’ at 11/10 (Hills) look safer angles.

Over in Italy, punt bookings-magnet Lassana Coulibaly to be ‘shown a card’ at 3/1 (Paddy) when his Salernitana go to Napoli in Serie A (2pm).
