Reds can win entertaining derby tussle

It is the first Merseyside derby of the season at lunchtime on Saturday as Everton make the journey across Stanley Park to face Liverpool at Anfield.

Our betting expert has picked out three tips for this Premier League clash.

Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool go into the game unbeaten in the past four meetings, with Everton failing to score in the previous three encounters, but the Toffees can cause some problems at Anfield this time.

Everton have been among the goals on the road this season, scoring nine times in their past four away games in all competitions.

Before the international break, Sean Dyche’s side were 3-0 winners at home to Bournemouth, and having a fit Dominic Calvert-Lewin is vital to their attacking threat.

The Reds have some defensive woes, with Andy Robertson having suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder on international duty with Scotland. They have managed just two clean sheets in 11 competitive matches this season.

They have, though, won all three home Premier League games and are averaging three goals per match at Anfield so far.

They have tasted defeat just once in the last 28 Merseyside derbies and can bag another win here. Albeit it may not be straightforward and Liverpool to win with both teams to score looks a decent play at 6/4.

Liverpool vs Everton tip 1: Liverpool and yes – full-time result and both teams to score @ 6/4 with Sky Bet

Salah still the Reds’ king

Mohamed Salah is odds-on to continue his recent scoring record in this fixture. The Reds forward has scored four times in his past five against Everton.

There were some major summer doubts about Salah’s future at Liverpool, but he has not been put off by talk of a move.

In fact, he has found the net five times in the previous seven league games, including a brace last time at Brighton.

Salah is, of course, the penalty taker for the Anfield men and they have been awarded two spot kicks in their past three Premier League matches.

He is also a shoot-on-sight type of player and, with Salah being as short as 5/6 to score at any time in this Merseyside derby, it might be worth siding instead with the Egyptian king to break the deadlock at 7/2.

Liverpool vs Everton tip 2: Mohamed Salah – first goalscorer @ 7/2 with Sky Bet

Toffees set to be under the hammer

This should be an entertaining game. Everton have shown enough of late to be a threat – winning away at Aston Villa and Brentford, and scoring five times in doing so – but they do struggle when confronted by their nearest rivals.

Liverpool will bring the game to their visitors and Klopp’s side are attacking with intent once more this season after last season’s dip.

As noted, Salah is still very much the go-to man for the Reds and he likes a pop at goal, so backing him to have three or more shots on target as well as scoring makes sense.

If Everton are to stand a chance, Jordan Pickford will need to be on his game and it is not hard to imagine the Toffees keeper making five or more saves at Anfield.

Overall, Liverpool can win the day with home advantage, and over 2.5 goals in a Reds success completes a tasty bet builder at 8/1 for the first Premier League game of the weekend.

Liverpool vs Everton tip 3: Bet builder: Liverpool to win, Mohamed Salah to score, Mohamed Salah 3+ shots on target, Jordan Pickford 5+ saves, over 2.5 goals @ 8/1 with Sky Bet
