Leicester and Liverpool clash in a pre-season match on Sunday. The Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy is on the line, with the Reds looking to defend the cup they won last summer with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.
Betting sites unsurprisingly have Liverpool as the 4/7 favourites for the match, which kicks off at 10:00am BST at the Singapore National Stadium.
Both sides had disappointing campaigns by their respective standards in 2022/23. Leicester clearly suffered more as they were relegated from the Premier League after nine years in the top flight, a spell in which they shocked the world by winning the title.
As for Liverpool, they missed out on Champions League qualification for the first time in seven seasons and made no real impression in any cup competition.
Both teams will want to hit the ground running this season as they look to bounce back and this match should prove important to their preparations.
Liverpool vs Leicester odds: Goal-heavy game in store
These sides are in transition to some extent, with the latest Premier League odds suggesting Liverpool are 8/1 third favourites in next season’s title race.
The Reds have waved goodbye to many of their veterans this summer, adding Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Having struggled to field a cohesive midfield for much of 2022/23, Jurgen Klopp currently has fewer players for the positions than he had last term. Their business in the remainder of the transfer window may well shape Liverpool's hopes for the forthcoming campaign.
Meanwhile, change was inevitable at Leicester following their drop into the Championship. James Maddison and Harvey Barnes have been sold to raise funds, while Youri Tielemans and Jonny Evans (among many others) have departed on free transfers.
The form book is on the Reds’ side ahead of this match. They won both meetings last season, scored five goals and yet none of their top-class forwards found the net.
At Anfield, Liverpool wasted three clear-cut chances, meaning it took a pair of own goals from Wout Faes to secure a 2-1 victory. In the return fixture, a brace from Curtis Jones and a free-kick from Trent Alexander-Arnold sealed a 3-0 win.
Klopp’s side have been scoring freely in pre-season too, bagging four against both Karlsruher and Greuther Furth.
However, they also conceded a total of six across those games and will undoubtedly offer chances to the Foxes. This will please Jamie Vardy, who has 10 career goals against the Reds – only against Arsenal has he scored more.
Leicester’s summer form is hard to read as they’ve only played one proper match, a 1-0 victory against Northampton Town. They also beat Leuven 4-2, though that fixture comprised three ‘halves’ of 45 minutes each.
As much as this is a glorified friendly, it would be a shock if Enzo Maresca's side won here. Leicester should score but Liverpool should win.
Liverpool betting tips: Back Salah to score
Despite continued question marks surrounding Liverpool’s midfield options, Klopp will be delighted with the form of his forwards.
His five senior options all scored at least once in the opening two friendlies of the summer, and four of them provided an assist (or more) too.
The combination of Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez has proven particularly fruitful. The former has set up the latter for three goals in the previous two games, with the Uruguayan returning the favour once last time out.
A lot will depend here upon who Klopp selects in his initial XI. After two games where none of his men played more than 45 minutes, the starters against Leicester will likely get an hour and a greater chance to impress.
It therefore makes sense to check who starts before placing your bet. Having not scored for four appearances including the end of the 2022/23 season, Salah ended a drought by his standards last time out.

There was a strange coincidence linking Liverpool and Leicester in terms of corners last season.
The Reds recorded 236 in the Premier League, which was both the third most of any club and the exact same total as the Foxes conceded.
When they faced each other, the count was low. The two meetings featured nine and eight respectively.
However, the four head-to-head clashes prior to that all saw at least 13, and the two before that quartet both hit double figures.
Liverpool have had seven corners in both their matches this summer, and also conceded seven last time out too.
Their red-hot attack combined with a somewhat shaky defence means that corners are always likely on the cards at both ends. There should be over 9.5 against Leicester on Sunday and most new betting sites will offer corner odds close to kick off.
