Longchamp Saturday Preview: Elleegant victory possible
Longchamp's big race meeting in early October centers on the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (G1). Arc Day at the famous racecourse in the Bois de Boulogne of Paris is a mighty one with six Group 1 races on Sunday. Saturday is the big day in its own right, with two Group One races and three Group 2 events. One of them is an international race, the Grand Prix of Royallieu ( G1), which Verry Elleegant was forced into after being excluded from the previous Prix.
7 3-year-olds face the starter for a 3,000 meters (about 1 7/8 miles) stamina test. Duke De Sessa is the favorite, but La Mehana has won her last three races.
#3 Verry Elleegant is 12 pounds better than anything else in the field. #4 Sea La Rosa has been in great form this year, winning three of her four starts. Emily Dickinson came third in Lillie Langtry. The winner will be paid $10 win/$30 show. The race starts at 2,800 meters. It will take place at Longchamp. There are two races: 3-year-olds and up fillies and mares and 3,5-4-5 mare.
#7 Kyprios is unbeaten in five events of 1 3/4 miles and over this year. #3 Quickthorn has won the Henry II at Sandown and the Prix Maurice de Nieuil at Longchamp. Quick thorn won by 14 lengths at York. I'm going to focus bets on exotics surrounding them. $1 trifecta: 3, 7 with 3 and 7.
#1 Addeybb is going to race against Verry Elleegant. #6 Anmaat has found another level as a four-year-old and won the John Smith’s Cup at York. Wally has won two Group 3 races in the meantime. The race starts at 2,000 meters. It costs $10 win/$30 show.
The Revenant is the favorite in the 1,600 meters race. The Revenants has won the race in 2020 and finished second in 2021. Erevann is third in August's Prix Jacques le Marois. Triple Time, Facteur Cheval and Checkandchallenge are also in this race, but it's the old man of the field that I'm going to support.
