Race is on to end dominance of Verry Elleegant and Nature Strip

Verry Elleegant and Nature Strip are the best racehorses in the country. Chris Waller-trained duo have reigned supreme since Winx's retirement three years ago. Nature strip inherited the Horse of the Year title from his former stablemate in 2019-20. Verry ElLEegants won the title last season.

Nature Strip is aiming to equal Chautauqua's record of three consecutive TJ Smith Stakes wins. Masked Crusader and Eduardo finished second and third in both feature Randwick sprints last year. Verry Elleegant and Nature Strip are the current leaders.

Nature Strip won the 2021 TAB The Everest. Masked Crusader is a five-year-old who has been handled by Team Hawkes. Eduardo is racing's "Benjamin Button". Home Affairs didn't measure up in The. Everest but his stunning Coolmore Stud Stakes win was more an example of his immense talent. Espiona is arguably the most exciting horse in Australian racing.

Lost And Running took his game to another level during the spring.

The Doncaster Mile takes place at Royal Randwick on April 2. Crack colt Anamoe is early favourite. Unbeaten filly Espiona is on the second line of betting. Private Eye, Mo'unga, Lost And Running, Icebath, Ayrton, Mugatoo, Hilal, Maximal, Top Ranked and Laws of Indices are also in the field.

Home Affairs went to a lofty 125 rating winning his Group 1 at Flemington to lead the three-year-old rankings. Anamoe is at 123 after his efforts against his own age and older horses during the spring. Profondo, Espiona, Captivant, Hitotsu, Alegron, Artorius, In The Congo, Converge, King Of Sparta and others are chasing them.

Home Affairs, Artorius, In The Congo, Profondo and Espiona will be kept to sprints this autumn. Anamoe is a good and versatile horse. Profonda is expected to follow a similar race program as Anami. In the Congo and Converge are trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.

The Golden Slipper is the world's richest two-year-old race. Coolangatta won the Magic Millions and is now the top GoldenSlipper betting. Sejardan and Shalatin are also among the contenders.
