Magpies can take advantage of City's rammed schedule

Despite watching his side win the Super Cup on Wednesday night, City boss Pep Guardiola still found time to criticise Premier League officials for their scheduling of Saturday’s match at the Etihad Stadium.

Rather than play on Sunday, the Light Blues have been given less time to recover and will host a refreshed Newcastle side on Saturday evening. Even though City’s squad are used to the rigours of a busy schedule after they won the treble, it is still early in the season.

They have already lost Kevin De Bruyne to another hamstring injury, and fatigue could play its part on Saturday. The Magpies have a dismal record at the Etihad, losing 14 matches in a row there, but they should have enough quality to leave with a point. They held City to a 3-3 draw at St James’ Park last season, proving they can mix it with the big boys.

Add in the Light Blues’ recent travelling and fitness woes, and Newcastle should be able to leave with a share of the points.

Joelinton to make his presence felt

Even without De Bruyne controlling City’s midfield, Guardiola still has a wealth of options at his disposal. The Spaniard could still field Rodri, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Mateo Kovacic and Bernardo Silva, and Newcastle will be happy to stop them in their tracks.

Joelinton is no stranger to a yellow card, and he collected 12 last season. Only Fulham’s Joao Palhinha was shown more, and he picked up a caution in both games against City last season.

The Brazilian plays with his heart rather than his head at times, so expect him to show his frustration at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City vs Newcastle United tip 2: Joelinton to be carded @ 2/1 with Sky Bet

Haaland to shine at home

Erling Haaland already has two goals to his name this season, and he will once again be the man to catch in the race for the Golden Boot.

The Norwegian scored 22 goals at home in the Premier League for City last season, and he should once again be the man to watch in the final third against the Magpies.

Over 2.5 goals has landed in seven of the previous 10 meetings between the two sides, while Newcastle should dominate the card markets.

Eddie Howe’s men picked up four yellow cards against Aston Villa last week, while they used similar disruptive tactics in their previous two games against the Citizens.

They collected four cautions in both fixtures against the champions last season, and they will look to slow down any City attack at the first opportunity.

Manchester City vs Newcastle United tip 3: Erling Haaland to score anytime, over 2.5 goals, team to receive most booking points – Newcastle @ 13/4 with Sky Bet
