Red Devils preparing for another derby onslaught

United have suffered three-goal hidings on their previous two top-flight trips to the Etihad, while they were also thumped 3-0 when entertaining their neighbours in October

The Red Devils have improved since then, but so too have title-chasing City, who have dropped only two points in their past nine league games and are coming into this fresh from a 6-2 success in the FA Cup at Luton Town on Tuesday.

Haaland bagged five in that rout at Kenilworth Road, taking his season’s tally to 27 goals from 29 appearances, and that could spell trouble for a United side who have lost five of their previous six derbies.

At the business end of last season, City recorded 4-1 league wins at home to Liverpool and Arsenal – and they have that ominous look about them currently.

That suggests they could make light work of United’s challenge, and winning by exactly two goals has plenty of appeal

Red-hot Haaland could hit another brace

The Norwegian phenomenon Haaland’s five-goal haul at Luton on Tuesday was the eighth time this season that he has scored at least twice in a game and he could enjoy double delight against United

The marauding frontman missed six weeks of action through injury in December and January but he is at his best now, helped in large part by assist king Kevin De Bruyne also back and providing him with some super service.

Since arriving at the Etihad, Haaland has played in four Manchester derbies. Not only did he net twice in a 3-0 win at Old Trafford earlier in the campaign, he also hit a hat-trick as City eased to a 6-3 victory in this fixture last season.

Furious Fernandes a strong card candidate 

One player who does not enjoy being on the end of a heavy beating is Bruno Fernandes, and if there is one-way traffic at the Etihad the United midfielder could well lose his cool.

The Portugal international has been cautioned 10 times in 34 appearances in all competitions this season and has also been booked in two of his past four Manchester derby starts.

With City fancied for a convincing victory, winning by at least two goals, Fernandes is a leading card candidate.

Completing the bet builder is City to rack up at least seven corners.

The Light Blues had 12 when the pair met at Old Trafford in October and they have had more than 6.5 in each of their past six matches at the Etihad.
