Manchester United finished with their worst-ever points tally (58) in a Premier League season in 2021/22. Erik ten Hag was appointed manager after the season. United are currently three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the league with a game in hand.
Ten Hag has transformed the United squad and he has brought a lot of new players to the club. United's aim is to finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League next season. They have been drawn against Barcelona in a play-off round of the Europa League. The Carabao Cup is a good chance for United to win it. They are one of favourites to do so. Manchester City and Liverpool will play each other in fourth round. It is hoped that United will win the League Cup. Their trophy drought has extended to a sixth season and they haven't won a major trophy since the 1996-97 season, when they won the FA Cup and the Premier League respectively.
