Marlins vs. Mariners prediction and odds for Tuesday, June 13

Yesterday, Bryce Miller and the Seattle Mariners pitching staff did the unthinkable, they kept Luiz Arraez off the base paths as his average dropped to .391 with an 0-for-4 performance, and the Miami Marlins dropped to 37-30 after the 8-1 loss.

Now, Seattle heads into Game 2 of this series at 32-33 with George Kirby on the mound.

Kirby is 5-5 with a 3.50 ERA and will be opposed by Edward Cabrera who comes into this start at 5-4 with a 4.29 ERA. The Mariners are favorites at home in the pacific northwest against the team from south beach.

Marlins vs. Mariners prediction and pick

George Kirby has been like a yo-yo for his last three starts. This stretch began with him giving up seven runs on nine hits in 4.2 innings against Pittsburgh and last time out he went 3.2 allowing five runs on 11 hits against the Padres, but sandwiched in the middle of two disasters was an eight inning shutout of the New York Yankees with seven strikeouts and no walks. So it’s simply a matter of what version of Kirby we’re going to get.

A lot of what Kirby we see could be determined by what version of Luis Arraez and the Marlins offense we see. Arraez is only hitting .320 over the past week with a .666 OPS. As a team they have a .636 OPS in that most recent six game stretch including the one run on one hit performance yesterday.

While Kirby has been up and down this month Cabrera has only allowed one run over 11.0 innings with 14 strikeouts to three walks. The Mariners are slightly better against lefties and crushed Jesus Luzardo yesterday, but today I think they’ll struggle against Cabrera.

It’s a low total, but it’s that way for a reason, I like the under in this one.
