Marshfield native has become elite MLB outfielder for Diamondbacks

Daulton Varsho is a star outfielder for the Arizona Diamondbacks. He plays both right field and center field. Varsho came to the big leagues as a catcher. The Wisconsin native wants to get a Gold Glove. He's batting .239 with a .754 OPS and has a team-best 5.2 WAR. His best player is Christian Walker with 36 homers. On Monday, Vrsko hit 20th homer and entered the season-finale series with 27. Brewers won 6-5. in extra innings. They are playing the D-Backs at American Family Field.

Gary Varsho's father, Gary, played for the Cubs, Pirates, Reds and Phillies. Gary was manager of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and later the Phillies organization. Varsho's high school years were interrupted by long trips to spring training. Darren Daulton is Vrsho and his brother Andie's football and basketball player. Daultson played at UW-Milwaukee.   He is a second-team All American. He didn't play football. His sister Taylor is Marshfield's all-time leading scorer. She is now the head girls basketball coach.
