Maryland Gaming Approves NFL Commanders’ Retail Sportsbook
Washington Commanders are approved to create a retail sportsbook at FedEx Field. The team's home field is in Maryland, so any sports betting activity there is subject to Free State laws. It's perfect timing since the 2022 NFL season just got underway. The betting kiosks will be set up in various locations in the stadium.
Maryland is the only state that does not allow mobile sports betting. The majority of states already allow both retail and mobile betting, but Maryland is struggling to do that. The state's Sports Wagering Application Review Commission is still approving mobile applications. It is using a diversity plan amendment to find the best candidates.
Washington Commanders will open a stadium sportsbook. Similar deals are being explored by Phoenix Suns and Chicago Cubs. Washington DC allows for mobile sports betting. Maryland is expected to legalize its own mobile market soon. NFL fans will have plenty of opportunities to make wagers online or in person.
