Mavericks vs. Knicks NBA Player Props, Odds: Picks & Predictions for Thursday

The New York Knicks look to stay hot against a Dallas Mavericks team led by superstar Luka Doncic coming to town, and we’re offering our best Mavericks vs. Knicks NBA player props based on the best NBA odds.

There’s a lot up in the air as the Dallas Mavericks travel to the Big Apple to take on the New York Knicks. Not only will the Knicks be without All-Star Julius Randle and starter OG Anunoby, but Jalen Brunson is a game-time decision, as are Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving for the Dallas Mavericks.

And that's to say nothing of the players these teams moved at the NBA trade deadline.

Despite the injuries to Randle and Anunoby in late January against the Miami Heat, the Knicks have managed to go 4-1 in Randle's absence behind the lights-out play of Brunson and Donte DiVincenzo.

Jason Kidd has relied heavily on Doncic and the Dallas offense to carry the team this season with the Mavs ranking 10th in points per game (118.2) and just 22nd in points allowed per game (118.3). It’ll depend on who suits up, but the Mavericks are 4.5-point favorites at our best sports betting sites in what could be a game defined by offense.

Here are our best Mavericks vs. Knicks NBA player props and NBA picks (odds via our best NBA betting sites; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Jalen Brunson Over 2.5 threes made (+110 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Assuming Brunson suits up, and with our best sports betting apps not yet offering a line on DiVincenzo, the Knicks point guard is primed to continue carrying New York’s offense. An All-Star this year, the former second-round pick out of Villanova has taken his game to another level while already averaging a career-high 27.2 points per game.

Along with his uptick in scoring, he’s also become a more frequent 3-point shooter. Brunson is taking 6.5 threes per game this season, nearly two more per game than last season, and hitting 2.7 per game, up from two last year. Only DiVincenzo is hitting more threes per game than his 2.9 among Knicks players.

His 41.1% 3-point shooting should give a Mavericks defense that’s 22nd in defensive rating plenty of trouble. Dallas is allowing guards to hit 6.6 threes per game this season and giving up 13.1 threes per game overall.

Brunson has also been tasked with carrying the offense while Julius Randle is out. His 28.8% usage rate is 19th among NBA players who have played at least 30 games this season and Brunson has hit at least three threes in 22 of 49 games this season.

Josh Green Over 14.5 points and rebounds (-111 via Caesars) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Josh Green has taken his game up a notch in recent weeks and the 23-year-old Australian is coming off four straight games with at least 12 points and has averaged 22.2 combined points and rebounds over that stretch. The fourth-year player had an up-and-down start to the season and missed 12 games in December, but since Jan. 11, he looks like a different player.

While he is averaging just 8.9 points and 3.2 rebounds per game on the season, he’s gone for at least 15 combined points and rebounds 10 times in his last 12 games. Over those 12 games, he’s averaging 13.8 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. He’s also been on a heater as a three-point shooter taking 5.2 per game and hitting 2.5. He’s shooting 48.1% from three in his last 12 games, up from his season average of 40.9%.

This is a tough Knicks defense, but with injuries to multiple starters and Green’s hot streak, he’s in a position to continue to add to his collection of impressive games. New York is allowing 21.3 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game to small forwards this season. With Green’s shooting prowess in recent games, it’s hard to imagine his usage dropping. The last time Dallas played New York, Green had 18 points and two rebounds.

Luka Doncic Over 33.5 points (-110 via BetMGM) ⭐⭐⭐

With the injuries to both Randle and Anunoby, the Knicks' dominant defense can be penetrated by a star like Doncic. While New York is allowing just 109.4 points per game this season, second in the NBA, the Knicks haven’t dealt with a player like Doncic, especially with the level at which the former third-overall pick has played in recent games.

While he is averaging a jaw-dropping 34.5 points per game this season, Doncic has been at an even greater rate in recent games. He’s missed five of his last 17 contests and is a game-time decision against New York, but in the last 12 games he’s played, Doncic is scoring 37.2 points per game and has had at least 34 points in seven of them.

Doncic is second in the league in usage rate among players who have played at least 30 games, his 35.8% usage rate is behind only Joel Embiid, and he has scored more than 33.5 points in 23 of his 43 games this season. The Knicks pose a challenge, and Doncic didn’t suit up the last time these two played, but with the sheer volume of shots he takes (23.9 per game), he can continue to add to his historic season.
