Medina Spirit is stripped of Kentucky Derby victory

Medina Spirit was disqualified from the Kentucky Derby after he tested positive for betamethasone. Mandaloun was declared the winner. A class-action suit was filed and is working its way forward in the courts. Trainer Bob Baffert was suspended 90 days and fined $7,500. Baddert's attorneys plan to appeal the decision. The winner's purse of $1.86 million will have to be returned if the appeal fails. It took almost 10 months to get to the first step in clarifying the matter. It's only the third time a winner has been disqualified in 146-year history of the world's most famous horse race.
