Gold Trip has won the 2022 Melbourne Cup by 1.5 lengths. The horse took the lead with 300m to go and won by a margin of 1:5. Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained horse is celebrating a payday of more than $4 million. Several experts predicted that Gold Trip would finish seventh. However, a few punters were right and they were able to make their predictions. The Age and Andrew Wu predicted Gold Tops would cross the finish line first. Jockey Mark Zahra said the final moments of the race were nerve-wracking.
