Memorial Tournament Market Report: The Pros Found an Edge on Patrick Cantlay

The Memorial Tournament is one of the biggest non-major golf tournaments of the year as Jack Nicklaus hosts the elevated field event at Muirfield Village Golf Club.

Bettors will be clamoring to bet the stars as they have had an advantage at these designated events so far this season.

Scottie Scheffler is the favorite this week at +600 odds. He is getting 6% of the public bets and accounts for 9% of the handle.

Like so many events this season, Jon Rahm is also a heavy favorite with +750 odds at BetMGM. He opened at +800 and accounts for 6.6% of the tickets and 11.7% of the money.

BetMGM’s biggest liability this week is Viktor Hovland. He is getting the most tickets (8.5%) and accounts for 8.6% of the handle.

The other two major liabilities for BetMGM are Jordan Spieth and Hideki Matsuyama. Both are getting around 5% of the public bets.

However, there appears to be one player getting action from the pros — Patrick Cantlay. He is getting 6.1% of the public bets and accounts for a whopping 13.4% of the handle. The big money bettors appear to be on Cantlay.

Cantlay is ranked as the No. 4 player in the world and has finished 21st or higher in each of his past eight events. He has finished in the top five in four of those eight events.

Cantlay also won this event in 2021 and has shown a liking for Muirfield Village.
