The Mets won the series opener 9-3 Tuesday night behind Pete Alonso’s five RBIs and Justin Verlander’s six scoreless innings.

Now it’s on to Wednesday’s finale of the the mini, two-game interleague series, scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET in the Bronx (ESPN+).

Seeking a split, the Yankees will start Carlos Rodon (0-3, 7.36 ERA).

The Mets, meanwhile, will go with fellow lefty Jose Quintana (0-1, 3.60 ERA) as they look for the Bronx sweep.

With his 3-for-4, two-home run, five-RBI outburst Tuesday night, Alonso upped his current hitting streak to five games, going 9-for-19 during that span.

He now faces the struggling Rodon, who has surrendered 12 hits and 12 earned runs in 14 2/3 innings this season since recovering from a forearm muscle strain.

Certainly don’t expect anything close to Alonso’s Tuesday night fireworks, but we only need one hit to cash here so we’ll ride the hot hand.

Rodon does have the advantage of extra rest (seven days) between starts, but it’s been nothing short of a struggle so far for the lefty.

He has been tagged for at least two earned runs in each of his three starts — all since July 7. Rodon also has surrendered nine walks in addition to the 12 hits in his 14 2/3 innings, resulting in his ugly 7.36 ERA.

Next up are the Mets, who are a modest 4-3 in their last seven games but have scored an average of 5.6 runs per outing during that stretch.

Torres is pacing the Yankees with 43 runs driven in. And 26 of those 43 have come in the friendly confines of Yankee Stadium.

Torres has an RBI in five of his last seven games, driving in six runs during that span.

Like the Mets facing Rodon, the Yanks are also going up against a starting pitcher (Quintana) trying to find his form after spending the early season on the injured list (rib stress fracture).

We’ll go with Torres’ track record in what could turn into a Wednesday night Subway slugfest.
