No. 2 Michigan and No. 3 Purdue are playing in the Big Ten Championship Game on Saturday night at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Michigan won the conference last season and reached the College Football Playoff. Purdue is the ninth Big League school to reach the championship game since its beginning in 2011.  

The Big Ten went to a divisional format for the 2011 season. The East has won all eight games. Only three of the eight have been decided by one score. The closest game was Michigan State's 16-13 win over Iowa in 2015.

Michigan is looking to win its second consecutive Big Ten Championship. Wisconsin won the first two titles in the Leaders Division. Michigan State won in 2013 and 2015, and Ohio State reeled off four straight wins from 2017 to 2020.

Purdue's last outright Big Ten title was in 2000. The 2000 title split with Northwestern and Michigan. Purdue's starting quarterback in the 2000 season was Drew Brees. Brees went on to have a 20-year NFL career and retired two years ago.

Michigan and Purdue are playing for the Big Ten Championship.
