Milwaukee Brewers: Jackson Chourio Being Overlooked As A 2024 Rookie Of The Year Candidate

The Milwaukee Brewers have one of baseball’s most electrifying prospects in outfielder Jackson Chourio.  At age 19 the five tool player, who is yet to make his MLB debut, is additionally locked up for a minimum of eight years with the Brew Crew.  Despite the buzz he has created with his skill set and historic contract he is still being overlooked as a 2024 Rookie of the Year candidate.

Milwaukee Brewers prospect Jackson Chourio is being overlooked as a 2024 Rookie of the Year candidate.

There currently are no betting odds for specific players and their chances to win Rookie of the Year in 2024, but MLB Pipeline recently provided their predictions.  Experts Jim Callis and Jonathan Mayo were the two guessing who will win the award in which significantly last year they successfully predicted Corbin Carroll and Gunnar Henderson as Rookie of the Year winners in their respective leagues.

Looking at candidates in the National League for 2024 both players mentioned by both Callis and Mayo are actually division rivals to the Brewers.  Callis predicted Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes to win Rookie of the Year whereas Mayo went with Pete Crow-Armstrong of the Chicago Cubs.

Interestingly neither predicted Yoshinobu Yamamoto of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Despite being 25 years old being a well established pitcher from the Nippon Professional Baseball for years he is eligible to win Rookie of the Year.  Other players in the National League who could make a splash include Ronny Mauricio of the New York Mets, Dylan Crews of the Washington Nationals, Neolvi Marte of the Cincinnati Reds, and Jordan Lawlar of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

It is shocking that Jackson Chourio was not mentioned by either Callis or Mayo.  His contract with the Brewers signals that he will play a role in the big leagues in 2024 and that could come as soon as Opening Day.  He should get plenty of opportunities to put up big numbers as a rookie and he should be viewed as a legit candidate.
