Minnesota Twins vs San Francisco Giants Prediction 05-22-2023 MLB Picks

The San Francisco Giants and the Minnesota Twins meet Monday in MLB action from Target Field. The Giants are coming off a weekend series versus the Marlins. After a split in the first pair of games, in the Sunday rubber match San Francisco took a two-run victory. As for the Twins, they played the Angels over the weekend. Minnesota also split their first pair, then in the finale the Twins lost by two runs. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

San Francisco Giants

The Giants beat the Marlins 4-3 on Friday but then took a 1-0 loss in the Saturday game. On Sunday San Francisco posted three runs in the third inning during a 7-5 win. Starter Alex Wood lasted 4.1 innings with four earned on six hits and zero walks.

The Giants will go with John Brebbia in the start Monday. This year Brebbia is 2-0 with a 4.26 ERA in 21 games (two starts). Brebbia is 14-10 with a 3.40 ERA in 276 career games (13 starts).

Minnesota Twins

Over on the Minnesota side, they lost to the Twins 5-4 Friday before a 6-2 win in game two. In the Sunday finale the Twins had a brief lead in the third but ultimately fell 4-2. Starting pitcher Pablo Lopez posted 6.0 innings with two earned on five hits and three walks.

As starting pitcher Monday it’ll be the Twins’ Bailey Ober. In his five starts this year Ober is 3-0 with a 1.78 ERA and 28 Ks in 30.1 innings. Over his career Ober is 8-6 with a 3.48 ERA in 36 total starts.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stick with the Twins. Ober has been pitching pretty well lately. Over his last three starts Ober is 2-0 with four earned on 15 hits and two walks in 19.0 combined innings. In the Sunday game Minnesota had a pretty tepid offensive outing (aside from Willi Castro’s 3-for-4 performance, that is) and wasted a pretty solid start from Lopez. In this opener, Ober should put the Twins in a good spot and I think they’ll fare better this time.
