The Chicago White Sox and the Minnesota Twins meet Monday in MLB action from Target Field. Chicago is fresh off a weekend series versus the Pirates. After a split in the first two games, on Sunday the White Sox took a shutout loss. As for Minnesota, they played the Astros over the weekend. The Twins won the first pair in that set, then on Sunday Minnesota took a four-run loss. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat place.

Chicago White Sox

The White Sox lost to the Pirates 13-9 on Friday in the series opener, but bounced back with an 11-5 win Saturday. In the Sunday finale Chicago couldn’t get anything going on six team hits and lost 1-0. Starter Michael Kopech lasted 6.0 innings with one earned on two hits and three walks.

As starter for the Monday matchup it’ll be Dylan Cease. In his first two starts of the year, Cease is 1-0 with a 1.59 ERA. In 11.1 innings of work he has 18 Ks. Cease is 37-26 in his career over 92 starts with a 3.51 ERA in total.

Minnesota Twins

Over on the Minnesota side, they eked out a win over the Astros 3-2 Friday, then won again 9-6 in game two. On Sunday the Twins gave up 11 hits in a 5-1 loss. Starting pitcher Tyler Mahle managed 6.0 innings with four earned, eight hits and a walk.

Kenta Maeda will make the start for the Twins on Monday. In his first start of the season Maeda went 5.0 innings with three hits, one earned, no walks and nine Ks in a loss. Made is 59-42 with a 3.86 ERA in 170 games (136 starts) over his career.

The Sox are 3-9 in the last 12 versus the AL Central and the over is 3-1-1 in their last five games versus a team with a winning record.

Meanwhile, the Twins are 5-1 in their last six in game one of a series and 15-6 in their last 21 Monday games. The under is 6-1-2 in Minnesota’s last nine in game one of a series.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll stay with the Sox here. Cease is doing well over his first couple of starts. He’s coming off a win over the Giants with just one hit, one earned and five walks in 5.0 innings of work. Maeda should do well here also. He took a tough-luck loss to the Marlins on April 4 in a 1-0 result. On Sunday the Sox wasted a solid pitching performance, allowing Pittsburgh just two hits and four walks in the defeat. The offense is going to need a better output in this one, and I think Chicago will get just enough to take the opener win if all goes well.
