The Colorado Rockies and the New York Mets meet Friday in MLB action from Citi Field. The Rockies just finished up a series versus the Brewers. Colorado won the first pair of those matchups, then on Thursday the Rockies powered out a three-run victory. As for New York, they played the Tigers this week. The Mets lost the first two in that series, and in the finale New York ended up losing in a shutout. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Colorado Rockies

Colorado eked out a 3-2 win in the Tuesday game versus the Brewers, then won 7-1 in game two. In the Thursday finale the Rockies roared back from a 4-0 deficit with a couple of wild innings late in a 9-6 win. Starter Connor Seabold put up 5.0 innings with three earned on seven hits.

For the starter job in the Friday game the Rockies will send out Antonio Senzatela. This will be Senzatela’s season debut. Over his career, Senzatela is 39-42 with a 4.88 ERA in 143 games (117 starts) total.

New York Mets

Over on the Mets’ side, they lost to the Tigers 6-5 and 8-1 in the Wednesday doubleheader matchups. On Thursday New York mustered just three hits in a 2-0 loss. Justin Verlander lasted 5.0 innings with two earned on five hits and a walk.

Kodai Senga will take the starter job for the Mets on Friday. In his five starts so far Senga is 3-1 with a 4.15 ERA and 32 Ks in 26.0 innings.

The Rockies are 28-64 in their last 92 road games and 6-14 in the last 20 overall. Colorado is 8-22 in their last 30 versus the NL East.

Meanwhile, the Mets are 43-21 in the last 64 in game one of a series and 42-18 in their last 60 at home versus a right-handed starter. The over is 16-5 in New York’s last 21 in game one of a series.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll try the Mets in this one. Probably staying away, though. That said, it’ll be interesting to see what Senzatela does in his season debut. As for Senga, he posted a pretty decent outing against the Nationals in his last appearance with 5.0 innings, two earned, five hits and four walks. Senga ended up taking the loss, though. On Thursday the Mets couldn’t get anything going on offense against Eduardo Rodriguez and limped to a listless defeat. New York has now scored one run or fewer in three of their last six games, going just 1-5 in that time. The Mets need to pick it up on both sides, but I think they’ve got a decent chance here.
