MLB Trade Rumors: Corbin Burnes Next Team Odds

Few MLB starters are likely to command the level of leaguewide interest that veteran righty Corbin Burnes of the Milwaukee Brewers will this offseason.

Fresh off his third consecutive season with 3.5-plus WAR and third straight with 200-plus strikeouts, Burnes is slated to see a big payday this offseason — whether he remains in the Cream City or heads elsewhere.

Through six seasons, Burnes has posted a 45-27 record on the bump with Milwaukee, striking out 870 hitters while posting a 4.2 K-to-walk ratio and winning the 2021 NL Cy Young award. His production was helpful to those participating in legal online sports betting and placing wagers on Burnes.

Ahead of the MLB GM Meetings, U.S. Betting Report broke down the odds on where Burnes will suit up next, whether it be with the Brew Crew or any of the other 29 MLB franchises.

Will Burnes Return to Milwaukee In 2024?

Right now, the Brewers remain the favorite to keep Burnes in Milwaukee, with +100 odds of keeping the veteran starter in 2024 and beyond, ranking well ahead of the No. 2 Baltimore Orioles and Philadelphia Phillies, who come in at +1500 apiece.

It’s worth noting that the largest contract handed out via an extension by the Brewers was to outfielder Christian Yelich, who got a seven-year, $188.5 million deal with the team in 2020.

It’s worth wondering whether Burnes would command even more than the $26.9 million that the team’s paying Yelich annually, given his exceptional talent and Cy Young background.

Last year, RHPs like Carlos Rodon (6 years, $162 million), Jacob DeGrom (5 years, $185 million), and Justin Verlander (2 years, $86.7 million) made waves in the sport’s free agency period.

Whether Burnes will outdo any of those three remains to be seen, though one thing that seems certain is that the former Cy Young winner will get a big-time payday this offseason, regardless of where he signs.
