Nash Rawiller to miss Caulfield Cup and Cox Plate following suspension

Champion jockey Nash Rawiller won’t be seen in action at the Caulfield Cup and the Cox Plate meetings, following a suspension incurred at Randwick-Kensington on Wednesday.

Rawiller was handed a seven-meeting suspension, in which he chose to begin immediately, after pleading guilty to a careless riding charge.

The suspension stems from an incident involving jockey Brett Prebble, which Rawiller felt was avoidable.

While his recent track record didn’t aid in leniency, accepting the charge did shave off some time.

Consequently, Rawiller relinquishes his anticipated ride on Montefilia in the $5m Group 1 Caulfield Cup, with Blake Shinn stepping in as his replacement.

Further setbacks include missing out on steering Fangirl, the King Charles III Stakes victor, in the Cox Plate and Espiona in the forthcoming Manikato Stakes at The Valley.

Rawiller will be available to return riding just ahead of his ride on Hawaii Five Oh in the $10m Golden Eagle at Rosehill.
