Which players will come away with the best NBA 2K24 ratings this year? Since NBA 2K24 broke the news about its new cover athlete earlier this month, it’s been fairly quiet and fans are starting to become eager about the game’s new reveals. Although NBA 2K23 is still going strong, fans have started to divert more and more of their attention towards NBA 2K24, and the new player ratings are certainly one of the points of interest.

The NBA 2K24 release date is still well over a month away, but reveals will be coming in hot and heavy as the weeks go by in August. And finding out the new player ratings, including the best point guards, is always a special moment for the fans, granting them their first real taste of what’s to come in NBA 2K24.

This year we’re predicting that the NBA 2K24 ratings reveal will take place on September 5, 2023. For NBA 2K23, 2K opted to reveal the player ratings on September 6, which also landed on a Tuesday. And considering how much of their reveal content they kept for the month of September last year, it’s hard to envision 2K choosing to do something completely different this year.

However, the one other prediction we have should NBA 2K24 choose to release their player ratings earlier this year, is that they could do so on the very special, ‘Kobe Bryant Day’, which happens to be August 24 (08/24). As many of you know, Kobe Bryant is the cover athlete for NBA 2K24, and revealing the player ratings on his iconic day, could be something 2K might opt to do. NBA 2K could also honor him in a very different manner as well, so it’s the more unlikelier predictions of the two.

With a new NBA season en route, it’s always exciting to see which youngsters in the league will stand out with their new ratings in NBA 2K24. A big reason why the NBA is as great as it is, is because of all the remarkable young talent its home to, from the likes of Paolo Banchero, to the newest rookie sensation on the San Antonio Spurs in Victor Wanbanyama.

Last year, star Oklahoma City Thunder prospect Chet Holmgren missed the entire 2022-23 season, but will likely be one of the best youngsters upon launch in NBA 2K24. Though Banchero will probably lead the charge of the previous rookie class, others like Jabari Smith and Jaden Ivey could be close behind seeing how well they performed.

Arguably the most intriguing part about discovering the new player ratings in NBA 2K, is seeing which stars made big leaps from their previous overall ratings to the new ones they will have this year. Although a handful of different factors are taken into account when deciding who deserves to receive the biggest upgrades, the previous performances from the season prior certainly play the greatest role in which players receive a boost in overall rating, similarly as is the case during the regular season.

Throughout the 2022-23 NBA season, several stars stood out and separated themselves from the pack with some incredible performances. This was put on display firsthand by Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who was selected First Team All-NBA, to last year’s Rookie of the Year Award Winner in Orlando Magic power forward Paolo Banchero. The NBA 2K24 player rating upgrades tend to be the first thing many fans are interested in, and understandably so. But what’s just as important is the downgrades certain players receive because it sheds light on which talents might not be as effective as they once were a year ago.

With a handful of star names making transitions to new teams, some will maintain a high rating while others might slip down a few notches. We anticipate this to be the case for the Warriors new point guard acquisition in Chris Paul as well as for the Memphis Grizzlies shooting guard Marcus Smart.
