NBA parlay picks Dec. 8: Ride with Nuggets' perfect home record

The defending champion Denver Nuggets are one of two unbeaten teams at home this season, and they're part of Friday's +247 NBA parlay.

The pregame narrative: Denver hosts the Houston Rockets, who've generated a severe home/road split. Also, the Chicago Bulls and San Antonio Spurs are two defensively inept squads that should clear a fairly modest point total.

Here are some NBA parlay picks for December 8.

NBA oddsas of 8:50 a.m. on 12/08/2023.

NBA parlay picks

Parlay: Bulls/Spurs over 219.5 points + Nuggets -4.5 + Jazz +9.5 (+247)

Bulls/Spurs over 219.5 points (-190): Picking a winner in tonight's game between Chicago and San Antonio is a tough ask, given that one side is 1-8 on the road and the other is on a 15-game losing streak.

So instead, let's back these struggling franchises to clear a teased-down total.

Chicago has the fourth-worst defensive rating on the road this year (122.6) and has hit this over in five of its past six road games. As for San Antonio, the over is 8-2 in its home games this year and the team has cleared this number in nine of 10 games at Frost Bank Center.

The Bulls and Spurs totalled 229 points or more in each of their past four matchups over the two previous seasons.

Other picks

Nuggets -4.5 (-250): The Rockets are on the fringes of play-in tournament contention as they near the quarter-pole of the season. But just imagine where this team would be in the standings if it never had to play on the road.

Houston is 0-8 away from home this season. No other squad in the league has a goose egg in the road win column.

The Rockets are losing by an average of 9.0 points per road game, according to TeamRankings, and they've failed to cover a 4.5-point line in six of eight games — including a 10-point loss in Denver on Nov. 29.

To make matters worse for Houston, Denver is a dynamo on home court. The Nuggets are 9-0 at Ball Arena while winning by an average of 11.0 points per game.

Jazz +9.5 (-162): Coming off a 50-point bludgeoning at the hands of the Mavericks, this Utah Jazz team might not be one you'd want to back.

But the Jazz have demonstrated an ability to at least be competent while playing at home, as they have a 6-4 record and they've covered this spread all but once.

Taking Utah as a moneyline upset pick here (+210) is not a crazy play. The Los Angeles Clippers are just 3-7 on the road, and two of those wins came against the Spurs (the other win came against a Kings team that was playing on zero rest).

The Jazz have also beaten the Clippers in each of their past three matchups in Utah. For added safety in a parlay format, we'll bank a bevy of points.
