NBA picks: Celtics vs. Thunder prediction, odds, over/under, spread, injury report for Tuesday, Jan. 2

The Boston Celtics take on the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday, January 2. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET from Paycom Center in Oklahoma City. The Celtics (26-6) grabbed a big victory over the Spurs in their latest game, winning 134-101. They have now won six games in a row. The Thunder (22-9) are coming off a 124-108 win over the Nets, marking their fourth straight.

Celtics G Jrue Holiday is questionable with an elbow injury, and Jaylin Williams (hip) is questionable for OKC.

The Celtics enter as 3.5-point road favorites at DraftKings Sportsbook, with the total set et 240.

Celtics vs. Thunder, 8 p.m. ET

Pick ATS: Thunder +3.5

This matchup pairs off two of the best teams right now in what is sure to be a thriller. The Celtics sit atop the Eastern Conference, while the Thunder rank second in the west. The Thunder get home court advantage, which will give them an edge here — each of Boston’s six losses this year has occurred on the road. Since the Thunder have been winning without being a particularly strong rebounding team (48.6 RPG), the Celtics’ strength on the boards (55.1 RPG) should not affect the outcome too much. I like the Thunder’s winning streak to continue here.

Over/Under: Over 240

This is going to be a shootout between two very hot offenses. The Celtics put up 134 points in their latest game and bring a mostly healthy roster to the court, and the Thunder rank fourth in the league in points scored per game. Both teams know what is being asked of them in this matchup and will take every possible opportunity to score. Ride with the over.
