NBA picks: Grizzlies vs. Mavericks prediction, odds, over/under, spread, injury report for Tuesday, Jan. 9

Jackson Jr. and Santi Aldama have both been ruled out for the Grizzlies, who are now 9.5-point underdogs in this game. The total is now 237. I like the Mavericks to cover at -9.5 and the under on the total with Jackson Jr.’s status cleared up.

The Memphis Grizzlies (13-23) will meet the Dallas Mavericks (22-15) will face off with both teams hoping to continue their winning ways, although Memphis is likely still reeling from the news last night regarding Ja Morant’s season. These teams have already met three times this season, with Dallas winning two of the head-to-head meetings.

Morant is done for the year with a torn labrum, and is set to undergo surgery. The Grizzlies have also listed Jaren Jackson Jr. as questionable. Luka Doncic and Grant Williams are probable for Dallas, while Dereck Lively and Dante Exum remain out.

The Mavericks are 9-point favorites according to DraftKings Sportsbook, with the total coming in at 235. Dallas is -375 on the moneyline while Memphis is +295.

Grizzlies vs. Mavericks, 8:30 p.m. ET

Pick ATS: Mavericks -9

The Grizzlies are an emotional wreck right now, even if they put on a brave face and play hard the rest of the way. Memphis has been dealing with so many injuries, but Morant is the final straw. The Mavericks are coming off a huge win over the Timberwolves and have covered in five of their last six games. They are 15-8 ATS as the favorite this season, and I expect them to dominate this contest.

Over/Under: Under 235

Two of the three meetings between these teams went under this line, while the third was a push. Morant being out already takes a ton of juice away from Memphis offensively, and Jackson Jr. also potentially being sidelined doesn’t help matters. Even though Dallas is one of the more over-friendly teams in the league, the Mavericks have actually gone under their totals in seven of the last 10 games. Take the under in this one.
