NBA predictions: Knicks vs. Celtics odds, picks, spread, over/under, injury report for Friday, Dec. 8

We have an Eastern Conference rivalry at the TD Garden tonight as the New York Knicks will pay a visit to the Boston Celtics. These teams are facing off after losing in the quarterfinals of the NBA In-Season Tournament earlier in the week. The game will tip off at 7:30 p.m. ET and will air on NBA TV.

New York (12-8) was smacked by the Bucks in their quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday, falling in a 146-122 blowout loss. This was actually a three-point game at halftime before Milwaukee stepped on the gas in the second half and left the Knicks in the dust. Meanwhile, Boston (15-5) couldn’t seal the deal in a 122-112 quarterfinal loss to the Pacers. This game was tied with less than two minutes left before Indiana broke off a 9-0 run to put the Celtics down.

On the injury front, Kristaps Porzingis (calf) is listed as probable and should make his return for the Celtics tonight. The 7-2 big man has missed the last four games.

Boston enters the game as a 7-point favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook, accompanied by a total of 221. The Celtics are listed as a -278 moneyline favorite, making the Knicks a +225 underdog.

Knicks vs. Celtics, 7:30 p.m. ET

Pick ATS: Knicks +7

Boston leads the league in average scoring margin at +8.4 and is understandably a home favorite, especially with Porzingis back in the lineup. However, both of this teams are coming off disappointing quarterfinal losses earlier in the week and I think we’ll get a tight, competitive battle as they look to re-establish some momentum. I’m taking the Knicks to cover.

Over/Under: Over 221

O/U’s have been a coin flip for both teams so far this year and tonight’s total could land on either side. 221 is a low enough bar to clear and I think they could easily cross that bar in what should be a competitive contest.
