New York Mets vs New York Yankees Prediction 6-13-23 MLB Picks

The New York Yankees and the New York Mets meet Tuesday in MLB action from Citi Field. The Yankees are coming off a weekend series versus the Red Sox, losing two of three games. New York Yankees 

The Yankees took a 3-2 loss to the Red Sox in the opener of their weekend series, then got a 3-1 victory in game two. New York fell again 3-2 on Sunday, however. Starting pitcher Clarke Schmidt gave up one earned on four hits and no walks in 5.1 innings in the finale. 

Luis Severino will take the mound for the Yankees on Tuesday. In four starts Severino is 0-1 with a 5.75 ERA and 18 Ks in 20.1 innings this year. In his career Severino is 50-30 with a 3.46 ERA in 126 games (111 starts). 

New York Mets 

Over on the Mets’ side, they fell 14-7 to the Pirates in their Friday game then got a 5-1 win on Saturday. New York lost the rubber match 2-1. In that finale Mets pitcher Carlos Carrasco gave up two earned on six hits and three walks in 4.2 frames. 

The Yankees are 8-2 in their last 10 road games and 8-2 in their last 10 interleague games. New York is 10-4 in their last 14 after a loss. 

Meanwhile, the Mets are 8-3 in their last 11 at home and 7-20 in their last 27 Tuesday games. New York is 2-6 in their last eight after an off day. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll stick with the Mets here. Probably not touching it, though. Scherzer needs a bounce-back effort after giving up five earned on 11 hits in 5.2 innings in Atlanta his last time up. He’d been pitching well before that however, with two earned over 14.0 innings. As for Severino, he’s given up 11 earned over his last 9.0 innings in two starts and has yet to record a win in four outings. I don’t think Severino will do too badly in this one, but it’s hard to trust him right now.
