NFL betting: Point spread, over/under for Chargers vs. Dolphins

The Los Angeles Chargers (0-0) are set to meet the Miami Dolphins (0-0) in Week 1 of the 2023 regular season.

Here are the betting odds for the matchup, per BetMGM Sportsbook:

The Chargers are coming off a 10-7 record and a loss to the Jaguars in the Wild Card round. They enter this season with yet again high expectations after adding offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, who is expected to unlock the highest-paid quarterback in the league in Justin Herbert.

Additionally, after being hampered by a slew of injuries in 2022, Los Angeles returns key players, like offensive tackle Rashawn Slater, edge defender Joey Bosa, cornerback J.C. Jackson and defensive tackle Austin Johnson, all of whom missed most of the season.

The Dolphins, on the other hand, went 9-8 and lost their lone playoff game to the Bills. With wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle and head coach Mike McDaniel calling the shots, expect the offense to be as explosive as last season.

Defensively, they improved after the hiring of defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, who’s done an excellent job throughout his long NFL tenure calling defensive plays for four teams. Miami also added cornerback Jalen Ramsey, but he will not play this weekend as he is on the injured reserve.

Last season, the Bolts beat the Dolphins, 23-17. Miami leads the series against the Chargers, 19-17.

Sunday’s contest between Los Angeles and Miami will begin at 1:25 p.m. PT and be televised on CBS.
