NFL odds: Bryce Young injury news alters Rookie of the Year betting

Bettors who spurned convention and subscribed to Bryce Young's chances at winning the 2023 AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award are undoubtedly hoping fortune turns their way soon.

Despite only two No. 1 overall picks having claimed the award since 2011, the top sportsbooks and sports betting sites listed Young as the runner-up among favorites to win the honor when betting opened in April.

Since opening up at +500 odds, Young's chances have floundered in the wake of inconsistent play and an ankle injury that is expected to sideline him in Week 3. The Carolina Panthers QB is now a relative longshot at +1600 to win the award, according to the BetMGM NFL odds.

Previously, the former Alabama signal-caller had been one of the most popular NFL future bets at +800 odds to win Offensive Rookie of the Year as recently as Sept. 12. Young, who trailed only Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson in the preseason odds, now will likely be forced to watch from the sidelines as veteran Andy Dalton takes the reins of the Carolina offense.

According to the best NFL betting apps, Robinson remains the favorite at +180 odds, up from +350 when betting opened and +225 a week ago. Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson takes over the second spot at +300 odds, and Los Angeles Rams wideout Puka Nacua has exploded up the board and rounds out the top three at +600 odds after breaking the NFL record for most catches in the first two games of an NFL career.
