NHL parlay picks Nov. 29: Bet on underdog Red Wings, Capitals

There are three NHL games on Wednesday, so let's take a pick from each for a parlay.

The pregame narrative: The Montreal Canadiens and Columbus Blue Jackets are poor offensive teams with decent goaltending, a combination that reeks of an under. Also, the Detroit Red Wings are underdogs against the New York Rangers, but Detroit's offence should keep it in this game.

NHL oddsas of 10:11 a.m. on 11/29/2023.

NHL parlay picks

Parlay: Canadiens vs. Blue Jackets under 6.5 goals + Red Wings +1.5 + Capitals +1.5 (+422)

Canadiens vs. Blue Jackets under 6.5 goals (-115): Dull is a word that best describes how these offences have performed this season.

Both are in the bottom third of the league in expected goals per game. Montreal ranks 27th (2.87) in the category while Columbus isn't much better at 24th (2.95), according to Natural Stat Trick.

Neither is being rewarded for their poor performances, either, as the Canadiens rank 27th in goals per game (2.71) and the Blue Jackets are tied for 20th (2.91).

Goaltending, however, actually hasn't been a big issue for either squad. The two are tied for 14th in the NHL with .899 team save percentages.

Other parlay picks

Red Wings +1.5 (-152): Injury news favours New York ahead of this one, but I'm still siding with Detroit.

Dylan Larkin will miss Wednesday's contest while Adam Fox is eligible to return. Still, the Red Wings should be able to cover this number.

This is a bet the Wings have cashed in seven consecutive games. Detroit has gone 4-2-1 over this stretch as its offence continues to be one of the best in the league.

The Red Wings rank fourth in goals per game (3.70) this year, noticeably higher than New York who's tied for 14th (3.30).

The Rangers' team save percentage (.917) is much better than Detroit's (.899), but they're not the ones banking a goal. The Red Wings should do enough offensively to make this one close.

Capitals +1.5 (-148): Lastly, Washington's improved play makes this team a worthwhile puck line underdog.

The Capitals are getting some quality goaltending, ranking a respectable 10th in team save percentage (.908). The offence is still an issue as they're averaging the second-fewest goals per game (2.33), but they've covered this number in eight of their past nine.

The Kings are a dominant 13-3-3, but their record requires a deeper look. They've gone a perfect 9-0-0 on the road but are just 4-3-3 at home.
