Notable free agents for Padres this winter

The 2022 San Diego Padres went to the playoffs. They will return in 2023 with a mostly intact roster. Some players from the 2022 team surprised many in MLB. Four players have options and are not guaranteed free agency yet.

Martinez has a player option for this coming season. If he stays in San Diego, he will earn $7 million. He can also opt for free agency and earn only $1.5 million, so he may want to explore other options. Profar played in 152 games last season and put up a 3.1 WAR. The switch-hitter played at the outfield position. There is an $8.33 million option on Profars for the 2023 season, but he's not guaranteed to return. Suarez has an option of $5M for 2022, and the Padres need to pay him a raise.
